Where to begin

Let's find the right next step for your home.

You don't need drawings, a budget, or a plan to take it. You just need to want more from where you live.

Why it matters

The moments a home should hold.

Early morning on the window seat, stretched out like a cat in the soft light — the day hasn't begun, but it already feels generous.

A late-summer barbecue on the verandah under vine-filtered light. And that long, honest breath the moment you close the door behind you and the street goes quiet.

A home doesn't announce itself — it's simply felt. These are the moments we plan and design for.

Sunlight

Energy, warmth, and a sense of time passing through the day. The light that makes a room feel alive — and a home feel like yours.

Shelter

Comfort, privacy and protection. The quiet structure that holds a family — and lets you breathe out the second you're home.

Get these two right early, and the rest of the home quietly follows.

How it works

A calmer way to begin the work.

No jargon, no surprise invoices, no pressure. Four steady steps from "where do I even start" to the morning it finally feels like home.

Where we work

Melbourne's inner west, and a few places further out.

Most of our renovation and extension work is in Hobsons Bay — Williamstown, Newport, Spotswood, South Kingsville and Yarraville — where heritage overlays, narrow Victorian blocks and flood controls decide what's possible long before anyone draws a line. We also work in Coburg, and design new homes across the Murray in Echuca, Moama and Mildura.

In their words

What it's like to work with us.

“I had spoken to another designer, but what they were suggesting felt too radical and didn’t align with what I wanted to keep. Talking to Sunlight & Shelter felt completely different.”
Sue · Moama, NSW
“From a planning perspective, I was stuck. I couldn’t see how we could fit everything in. The clarity was exactly what I needed.”
Sue · Moama, NSW
“I found it a real relief having someone handle the permit side of things. Without that documentation in place, I would have been chasing my tail.”
